Description:
JOVCHEVATA KASHTA is a part of ethnographic complex of more than 200 years old, entirely renovated in the Bulgarian Revival style, houses. It is situated 34 km far away from the old Bulgarian capital Veliko Tarnovo and 3 km far away from the picturesque town Elena, in the small hamlet Kilajevci. The complex offers great opportunities for family tourism. It includes: 4 detached houses, each of them with kitchen, dining room, tavern with a hearth, 4 bedrooms and 1 single room for resting, with local heating system. In the yard there are: summer kitchen with barbeque, hearth and an oven, small house for children, little swimming pool, cradles, slides, basket and balls for basketball, volleyball and soccer, secured parking lot and covered parking with 3 places. There are ethnographic exhibition in the house, where are gathered restored traditional farm, handcraft and trade equipment and the hosts can tell you some interesting facts about it. You can also try some specific activities like: teasing and carding wool, weaving and, why not – milking and cooking traditional meals.
The hosts – Maya and Alexander Jovchevi organize hunting, fishing, mountain activities, mountain biking, horse riding, historical sightseeing, hiking, fishing, herbs and mushroom gathering. Here you can try some local specialties – buffalo milk and "Elenski But" (a special kind of dried meat made in this region).
Elena Balkan is a piece of heaven - a combination of magnificent nature, preserved Bulgarian traditions and customs and rich historical heritage. There is something for everyone's taste – eco tracks, tourist routes, mountaineering in the open air or in a hall, ski tracks, rope-lines, fishing etc. The Kilazhevtsi hamlet is hidden between forest hills and preserved from ages. Here you fill like you are in the different world of true peace, harmony and perfection – the river is murmuring around the house, the grass is fragrant and fresh, the air is clear.
